"If you feel that your life isn't making an impact, that your ministry is fruitless, give that over to God. Focus instead on abiding in Him. Spend much time in secret, in the Word and in prayer. We're often enamored by what a person does, but God is more concerned with who we are. Being always comes before doing in His eyes." (emphasis mine)
Sometimes my Sweet Hubby would ask me what I wanted to do with the day...and there were times when I would reply, "Let's just 'be' today." Looks like I was right on track. And I believe it goes along with my heart's desire for this new year:
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly

"Focus instead on abiding in Him. Spend much time in secret, in the Word and in prayer."
Yes, I'd say they're a perfect match.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:4 NASB

I can so relate to this Gigi. Being in ministry I feel I always have to be DOING something. I am enjoying this time in my life where my older 3 children are off to college and the Middle East and I can just BE with the Lord. My day job is to babysit a one year old and I have time to read, think, meditate, blog, just BE.
Have a great weekend.
Hi Gigi,
I just read your comment on the 2010 new year post on the LPM blog about losing your husband. My heart breaks for you and I pray that you may be comforted by our Lord everyday. I love my husband too, and I would miss him so terribly if I ever lost him. We have been married for 5 years now, and he is 32 and I am turning 27 this month. We are due to have a little baby girl at the end of this month too. I know that our God is Faithful, and He will be your Comfort, Refuge, and Strength for the rest of your days! Psalm 46
Blessings to you Gigi,

Love this thought!
You're so right....and Dr. Jeremiah too :) ....I'm so busy running around that I often don't take time to just be still. And when I do, I'm so exhausted that I'm not really communing with my Lord! I'm going to try hard to be still more!
That's a wonderful desire for the New year Gigi.
Tamela:)
