Just curious...

Today is Halloween. Do you participate in Trick or Treating? Or do you consider today "evil" in some fashion?

Handing out candy and seeing the little ones all dressed up has always been one of my Sweet Hubby's favorite things! He would banter with the kids...act scared by the creepy costumes...ooh and ahh appropriately at the many little "princesses."

Tonight my Sweet Hubby lay in our family room, in the hospital bed that was delivered this morning, while I did "door duty." I would have gladly left our porch light off this year and just spent my time with him, but he wouldn't hear of it. Can't not pass out the treats! But I'll be honest, I was glad when 8:00 rolled around!

What did you do tonight? Just curious...

Vicki and I have a dog that would not even attempt to understand the door knocking and costumes of all types. So, we avoid the trick or treaters every year. Though, shortly after Wyatt's (our dog) first birthday, we bought him an Racoon Skin hat. He seemed to enjoy it until he discovered that he had a tail hanging from between his ears.
So, no trick or treating for Wyatt.
I'm glad Steve wanted to enjoy the trick or treaters.

Hello gigi,

while i am typing i have been answering the door for all the children and giving them candy. I would have to agree with your sweet hubby, i love seeing the children and giving them their treats.

James ~ I'll bet Wyatt looked handsome in his 'coon skin cap! I know a lot of people with dogs that don't "do" Halloween because the constant doorbell ringing sends their pets over the edge...Snoopy never really seemed to care all that much! I offered to park my Sweet Hubby in the foyer in his wheelchair so that he could pass out the candy, but he is so weak now that he just wasn't up to it. I feel like it's another piece of him gone...

So Tamela, did you have a lot of Trick or Treaters this year? I'd guess we had around 50+. Seems down from last year...I've got waaaaaaaay too much candy left over!

I ate way too much candy. I'm scary like that.

Yeah, Gigi. You can see Wyatt wearing the coon skin hat on my profile picture. There is another picture of him on my other blog. The blog title is Love One Another. Click here.
Love One Another is a seven chapter manuscript to answer to what the core message of the Bible is.

I handed out candy to all the little ones. McKenna was Princess Lea (Star Wars) and loved running around with her light saber!! Our little 12 year old Jack Russell, Hunter, had a pumpkin hat on and begged for people to pet him as I handed out the candy.

I also had lot's of candy and even some homemade popcorn balls for the trick or treater's. My grandkids all came by for some special caramel apples on a stick and the popcorn balls and way too much more candy. Ha, at least I'm done with the hyped up kids after halloween thing. Now my kids get to deal with it.
My blog covered just what you were asking. I don't think it's evil unless you make it that way, but I also never let my kids wear spooky or witchy type costumes, just fun or funny ones.
I'm glad you husband was able to enjoy the holiday seeing the kids too.

We make a real family night out if it. With a 5 and 12 year old grandchildren they tend to want to go in different directions. The little guy sticks pretty close to home, while the older on goes a bit farther from home, but not too far.

Not many children come to my house to trick or treat because the houses are too far apart so I spend the evening my daughter's house, with other family members. They build a bond fire in a fire pit and everyone sits outside enjoying the kids and handing out candy. My daughter makes home made chili and apple crisp. It's an evening enjoyed by all.

God quality family time is the best!

Hi Gigi,
I am not certain if you are up to this kind of activity. But, I belong to a network of bloggers. One of them is Tamela.
I have a new blogger friend who would like to interact with us. Her name is Jody from Jody Lynn. She is expecting to receive visits and invitations to exchange hosting links.
Say hello to her if you like.
Thanks, Jim

Hi Gigi,
I see that Jim already told you that we did not participate in the treating this year.
Know that I am praying for you and for Steve. I know the Lord is with you continually even when you don't feel Him there.
