Home

Church just put me away yesterday. Period. The End.

Pastor Tommy had me in tears almost from the word "go." His sermon was all about how this is not our real home - rather, just a temporary residence. Amen, amen, amen.

Our choir sang beautifully - as always. From start to finish, our church service fed me...heart, mind and soul. Matthew agreed. In fact, he said it was his favorite service!

If you'd like to listen, you can. Click here, then select "podcasts" on the left, scroll down and select the sermon for 2/15/09.

For Music Monday, I'd like to share one of the songs our choir sang. It was just lovely...sigh...I wish you all could have been there...

The Light of That City ~ performed by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (lyrics below)

In this house we've built of make believe
Loved ones go long before, seems it's time to leave
But we will learn how to grieve, to forgive and receive
'Till we see them there in that city

Span of stars overhead as we walk this road
While this darkness remains, I will bear your load
And together we will tend the seed He's sown
As we walk along the road to that city

CHORUS:
On that day we will sing "Holy, Holy"
On that day we'll bow down in the light
And then we'll rise and turn our eyes
To the Lord, Jesus Christ, on that day

Though my eyes can't see what is waiting there
Though my mind can't conceive all that He's prepared
There the blind will see the sun, what was old will be young
And the lame, they will run all over the streets of that city

CHORUS:
On that day we will sing "Holy, Holy"
On that day we'll bow down in the light
And then we'll rise and turn our eyes
To the Lord, Jesus Christ, on that day

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." John 14: 1-3

I just love it when our Lord puts together a service just for us!

And I love it that your church still has a choir - singing in the choir is one of my very favorite things to do. It feeds my soul!

Me again - I linked to the song - it's one of my favorites, but have not heard Boston Tab do it - fabulous! I have Alan Asbury singing it - it is a marvelous song. Thanks for sharing. I'll try to listen to the sermon soon.

Hi Gigi...has it already been 3 months since your dear hubby went to be with Jesus? Where has the time gone, and I have been away for a bit, and I have missed so much. I have so missed blogging, and I want to thank you so much for all of your visits and comments with my challenge and all about our life right now and our marriage... it means alot to me to get feedback on our marriage and advice from someone who has been there!

SO keep it comin! lol

Lots of love to you. I hope you are doing very well. Be blessed this week!

Amen Gigi! Michael and I both agreed that Pastor Tommy delivered a wonderful sermon and the music was just incredible! We walked away feeling the love and promise that God has in store for everyone of us who believe's in him.

Hi Gigi,
I see it has been mutually a long time between post for the both of us.
I listened to almost twenty minutes of Pastor Tommy's sermon. I much appreciated his desire to attempt to paint a picture of Heaven. However, what stuck with me was the verse from Ecclesiastes. "It is a good thing to think about death, while you are still living".
I think I've found a simple approach to my athiest collegue.

Hi, Gigi. I'm late getting around to return your visit, but I see it's been several days since you posted. I hope your Mom isn't having a bad time again and that all is well with you and yours.

I love those services where you feel the Spirit from the moment it begins and even after you get home. :o)

Love you, my friend.

Hugs,

Diane
