God just hears the melody

You know, as I listened to the words of this song for the first time, I thought how true they may be...there is so much pure honesty in our rawest emotions. Perhaps that "pureness" really is a melody to the ears of the Lord. What do you think?

The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. O wall of the Daughter of Zion, let your tears flow like a river day and night; give yourself no relief, your eyes no rest. Lamentations 2:18 NIV

Good morning, Gigi,

So I'm not the only one up these early hours!

Hallalujahs are just words that many say without even knowing the meaning. God may enjoy our praises, but I think he enjoys our deeds in his name much more, not just empty praise.

"The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?" says the LORD.
"I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.

When you come to appear before me,
who has asked this of you,
this trampling of my courts?

Stop bringing meaningless offerings!
Your incense is detestable to me.
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—
I cannot bear your evil assemblies.

Your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts
my soul hates.
They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.

When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I will hide my eyes from you;
even if you offer many prayers,
I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood;
wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds
out of my sight!
Stop doing wrong,
learn to do right!

Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.

"Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:11-18

My church met and celebrated the Lord's Resurrection yesterday morning. As usual, many more people in church on Easter than weekly. We donated all of the collection to Haiti Relief.

I agree, Larry...I think the Lord sees empty praises and empty sacrifices as just that - empty and worthless.

I'm currently reading a book titled, "Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus: How the Jewishness of Jesus Can Transform Your Faith" and it is fascinating learning the "whys" of some of the things Jesus did and said. I just finished a section last night specifically on prayer!

And you know you touched my heart when I read about your church's offering from yesterday going to Haitian relief! :)

Have a blessed week! Oh - Matthew and I are truly enjoying your Philly series!!

I was listening to Beth Moore today and I was so encouraged by the scripture she was teaching on."I am the BREAD of LIFE. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry. Those who believe in ME will never thirst." Isn't that such an amazing and comforting word of truth from our Lord!! If we just look to HIM He supplies everything we need, sometimes it's someone who is being used by HIM as the hands, feet or voice of Jesus.
