The Waiting Room

Have you ever heard a song and had it immediately transport you to another place, another time? Yeah, me too. It happened just the other day, in fact, with this song...

In an instant, I was taken back - a little over two years ago now - to the waiting room where I sat while they performed My Sweet Hubby's liver biopsy. He was the last case of the day and the department was deserted, the room was dark and I was alone. Boy, did I feel all alone! And then my friend JJ called asking what she could do...I remember asking her to "just pray."

Waiting rooms can be filled to the brim or absolutely empty - like the one I was in that day - but every person there is still alone with their thoughts...will their loved one be okay?

Maybe your "waiting room" isn't literal...but you're waiting all the same.

It would be my honor to pray for you. Please let me know how...either by comment or by email through my profile.

I don't know what answer the Lord has for you and I don't know if that answer will come today, tomorrow or next year. But I'll stand with you in prayer while you wait.

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
Matthew 18:19-20 NIV

Waiting rooms are agonizing! In 1995 my sister and her family were in a terrible wreck on their way home for Christmas. My BIL became a paraplegic that day, My niece and nephew were both critical and all three were in intensive care. My sister was not hurt badly and we were all in that waiting room, but I'm sure she felt so alone! Every few minutes (it seemed like) the details of the wreck would come on the news.

This Christmas will be 25 years since that awful Christmas morning, But God is good and has carried them through.

How terrible for your family, Nancy...and I can't imagine your sister's agony as she sat in that waiting room praying for not only her husband but for her two children as well. Horrible. But yes, our God is so good and He is faithful! Hallelujah!

I know you are praying for me in my particular waiting room. And yes, songs sent me back to places in my memory all the time - as to scents!

Dawn, yes...I am sitting in those waiting rooms with you, holding your hand, praying.

I was thinking of you today as I was driving and listening to "Mercy Seat" four times in a row.
I feel like I am waiting. My hubby was looking for a new job (within the same company) and we prayed for a location we could both be excited about. He got a job he likes, but neither of like the location much. We desire to live farther south, closer to our kids and in a bigger city. We currently live in a very small, very rural town. Not our heart's desire. There's more, but I'll leave it at that.

Oh Judy..."Mercy Seat!" I'm in tears just thinking about that song! Guess I need to pop in my Travis Cottrell CD now!

I'm glad your husband got a job that he likes - now about the town...! LOL!

Judy, I will be praying about "the more" that you mentioned...the Lord knows what that is. We'll wait on Him together. (((hugs))) And thanks for thinking of me this morning - that was nice!
