Where do they go?

This post is totally random...but I'm serious about the question!

So this morning I'm sitting on the stairs with LuLu looking out the window. I love to watch the little finches flitting in the butterfly bushes. And 'it' strikes me. You know...one of those questions.

With all the (literally) hundreds of birds we see each and every day, why are we not stepping over dead birds everywhere? I mean, think about it for a minute. Aside from birds (like gulls) hit by cars (or trains...don't ask) or the occasional cat victim, I just don't come across dead birds. Where do they go to die?

I had lunch with my best friend, J, today and I posed this question to her. I asked if birds had a special "dying" place - like elephants. Neither one of us knew the answer. Do you? Not that this question is earth shattering...I just want to know, is all. And J - you do too, right?

"Two sparrows are sold for a penny, aren't they? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's permission." Matthew 10:29

What a great question. I never thought of it. I asked my husband and he is a great one to act like he knows what he's talking about and rambles an answer (really funny, because you can't tell when he's serious!). So I googled the question "Where do birds go when they die?" It seems that many others have had that question. There were 12 million hits on that question, but I didn't go beyond the first one. I found this answer: http://ask.yahoo.com/19980921.html

You might enjoy googling the question to see what you find.

I had a strange question myself for my hubby yesterday. A good friend from our church died Monday night. A young single mom who died from cancer. Anyway, I was wondering if in heaven she would know my dad. Do we all know each other in heaven even if we've not known each other on earth? Don't know if I can google that. I think when a loved one dies, for me anyway, I think on heaven even more. Great question about birds.

Jody, I'd like to think that in heaven, there are no "strangers" but that we're all just one big, (oh so) happy family!

putz...I've missed your comments, so I was delighted to see your post!

My Mom is getting stronger, thanks for asking! Still bedbound, but eating better and her spirits are significantly better.

As for me...I'm still standing, praise the Lord! I have my awful days, my pretty bad days and my "just sad" days. But I am still standing and trying to bring glory to the Lord for His many blessings.

And LuLu? She is absolutely delightful and one of those blessings I mentioned!

I hope all is well with you and yours...God bless!

Hey I plan on doing a post about what the gospel is to me soon.

So keep the questions coming! I love it!

Hope all is well and that you have a great weekend.

Love, jess

Hello gigi,

That is a very interesting question. Maybe because they are so tiny they decay quickly? Maybe they get ate up really fast by other animals or insects?
I really don't have any solid answers to that one. I will have to look at the answer that Dawn found and see what it has to say, Now you got me curious lol!

BTW I left a reply for you at Tamela's Place.

God bless you gigi
